Rats! I try to comment on blogs I quote to give a BIG thank you for the info. I'm so sorry I missed yours, Rose! I go to your site often and have printed out your lists that I take shopping with me.

What a great idea on the compounding pharmacy! I will find a close one right now and bookmark it. I'm so grateful for those who have paved the way for me, and for the internet through which we find each other!

Why thank you :) I'm reading along totally out of the blue and find my blog quoted. What a nice surprise.

It's always so mixed to talk to other people dealing with corn. On one hand it's nice to find someone who gets it... on the other I hate to see anyone have to deal with it!

I wanted to suggest that you look for a compounding pharmacy for the benedryl. We were doing the same thing with using the over the counter with my daughter... but if I had to give it to her for more then 3 nights the reaction got worse then what it was stopping! I had the compounding pharmacist make us a mix that's nothing but benedryl and water. At first I gave it to her mixed with honey but I discovered she's fine taking it strait!

On the other hand the tylenol we have mixed with lactose(dairy warning) and put in little caplets I can cut open. It has to be sprinkled over and mixed in honey because it tastes horrid. (My pharmacist warned me when I tried to have it mixed in just water.)

I can't imagine dealing with a corn allergy. Milk, egg, and peanut are all I can handle! I read about someone that can't be around airborne corn as well... her Target sells popcorn so she can't shop there. She talked about cleaners containing corn and that she would schedule her visits to be sure to avoid cleaning time at stores. What a horrible allergy. I thought milk was in everything, but corn literally is! Whew.

I never really thought about why it takes me three hours to do my grocery shopping, too. Based on your comment here, now I think I know. LOL! I never really thought about labels being so time consuming, but they really are. Why can't they just be clear? UGH.

Good post and will be so beneficial to those dealing with a corn allergy, as well as informative to those that don't. :)

When I was buying processed foods, it could take me three hours to do a one-week grocery shopping trip because of label reading and trying to find alternatives. But all it took in my new lifestyle was a call to the farmer who provides my eggs to ask: "Do you oil your eggs with corn oil? No? Great, PLEASE don't start! Thank you!" Same thing with my veggie farmer and meat farmer. Making food at home has actually bought me time!

Oh my goodness? Corn really is everywhere, to avoid that must be a fulltime job. I really, really wonder about these food allergies lately, seems like they are skyrocketing in number.
