Here's another way to looove coconut oil. (yesterdaysnaturals.com/search/label/Coconut Oil) I have a friend who makes this with stevia for a diabetic father. That would certainly help cut out the carbohydrates from the maple syrup. I haven't tried it though....

You know those advent calendars with little doors you open and each day has a tiny chocolate candy? The kids used to get one every holiday season. I found an old one in the box of Christmas decorations and washed it up for this. Unfortunately, it got put in the dishwasher and melted, so I'll have to look around for other things I can use. I'm thinking maybe GT Kombucha lids...

Great idea! I'm curious: what kind of mold do you use? I'd love to get one but I've been wondering which kind would be best.

Peggy, I think its great that you found a way to get your coconut oil in! I can't stand plain coconut oil or butter, so I have to add coconut oil to sweetened tea (which isn't that great but at least I can get it down). For about a week, I've cut back on almost all sweets and grains (while feeding the fam their usual share) and I think my weight plateau is shifting (down). It is pretty early to say for sure, but I think it is helping. I hope so, because I've been stuck for awhile. I look forward to hearing how this goes for you. I guess I better start trying to get my coconut oil down again, too - but w/o sweets I'm not sure how. Thanks for the reminder!

I have GOT to do this! When I get off of work, I'm almost always hungry, but not in the "I'm going to whip up something quickly then get the boys from school" hungry. I hate to eat a big lunch at 2:00pm and then fix dinner for everyone else @ 5:30pm. This just might do the trick to tide me over till dinner.

You can go grain free. I swear, you can do it. I do feed my kids grains, but the first year when I went low-carb, I didn't. It was just too tempting to have bread (fresh baked by me!), rice, potatoes, etc on the table. They just dealt with it. Now I'll fix them brown rice instead of white, we'll all eat sweet potatoes, just dh and I will eat the small ones or split one, etc.
