I was SHOCKED to find triclosan in the toothpaste my family used to use. YUCK!! Needless to say, we don't use that toothpaste anymore. We're still working to get all of our personal care items switched over, but we're getting there.

Thanks for the informative article! I've seen research that we're overly "anti-germing" (is that a word?) our homes, and our children are less well off, more likely to have weaker immune systems or develop allergies. That old adage, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" really does apply to kids and their environment.

Pesticides and other toxic chemicals... how DID we ever come so far? I'm pretty sure there are still some long-untouched bottles of Something Nasty sitting around, in the back, underneath the sink at our house. Time to purge!

I've been absolutely astounded by the work the Coles do to make their farm truly sustainable. They say they aren't there yet, and that it's a process, but hearing about what they do toward that end is fascinating.

this doesn't apply to this post, but I just looked at the link you had to your posting about your meat CSA...West Wind..they sound so outstanding!! I'm loving their mission and passion about their work. So great! I belong to a CSA as well for our milk/eggs/chicken and pork and I love them. They live about 1 mile from my current home and are wonderful people themselves. I also wanted to tell you I currently have 8 chicken wings marinating in your "wings for whimps" recipe for date night with my hubby. Thanks for that recipe, can't wait to try them!
